LAMMAS

Between the worlds

This quilt acknowledges, celebrates and reclaims the redeeming power of darkness - destruction even, as a positive force of Creation. It joins together scraps of black fabrics freely supplied by friends. The central panel symbolises the vesica piscis, the symbol of fertility through the union of opposites, (and has a reference to the 'Black Madonnas' of Europe, Central America, Africa and elsewhere). The beaded surface provides the seeds which are the hope for future growth arising in the darkness.
