Cornucopia - O mother sun!The pinwheel and spiral blocks in this quilt indicate the never-ending movement that is the cycle known as the Wheel of the Year. At the season of Litha light reaches the fullness of expression in the accompanying abundance of Earth's fertile harvests. At this halfway point in the cycle, there is the momentary pause to admire the teeming fullness of life. The 'swastika' at the centre symbolises the end of this part of the cylce. It loses its recent sinister reference, remembering its Sanskrit origins to mean 'so be ' - or 'amen', as we prepare to give way to the on-coming seasons celebrating the dark half of it's cycle.
